MEET OUR DESIGNERS

Karen Larson

Karen Larson has been sharing her design expertise throughout the Upper Peninsula for over 18 years.

In 1990, Karen received her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Environment Design from Northern Michigan University. Before opening Karen R. Larson Interior Design in 1992, Karen worked with STS and Consultants as a subcontractor providing finish selections, sample boards and design development.

Karen’s design philosophy includes providing her clients with quality products that emit a timeless appeal. She has overseen several hundred projects such as medical and professional offices, schools, nursing homes, cottages and condos, among many other types of residential and commercial spaces. She prides herself in keeping up to date in the latest products available in the industry today and strives to create beautiful spaces that are both sophisticated and unique.

Karen is both A.S.I.D. and NCIDQ certified.


Macy Niemisto

Macy Niemisto started as a high school intern with Karen R. Larson Interior Design, Inc. in 2013. This is when Macy fell in love with Interior Design as she learned from Karen and her previous staff members. Macy currently attends Michigan State University where she is working towards her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Interior Design. She has earned her name on the Dean’s List all semesters that she has been attending Michigan State. On campus, she is a member of the Interior Design Student Organization (IDSO), employed as a Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence (SARV) Peer Educator, employed as a Gallery Guide at The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, previously performed campus tours as a Spartan Ambassador, and is employed as a Resident Assistant in the on-campus housing.

Macy has earned multiple scholarships to go towards her education, including The Morna Kline Memorial Fund scholarship and The Clifton and Patricia Rautiola and DTN Communities Endowment Fund scholarship. While Macy is home in the Upper Peninsula during the summers, she works regular office hours for Karen as a designer. 2016 marks three years of Macy’s involvement in Karen R. Larson Interior Design, Inc.

In her free time Macy enjoys painting, binge watching Netflix, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying the outdoors.
